WASHINGTON D.C. (Headline News USA) (Copyright © 2025) — A man and woman employed as aides to the Israeli Embassy were shot and killed outside the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum over the weekend, prompting a search for answers in what police are calling a double homicide.
The victims, Elias Rodriguez, 25, and Ahtziry Medina, 23, were found inside a vehicle on Saturday morning with fatal gunshot wounds, according to The Times. Police responded to the scene shortly before 11 a.m.
The pair had traveled from New York City to attend a social event in Washington, D.C., the night before the shooting. According to People, friends said Rodriguez had recently purchased a ring and intended to propose to Medina during the trip.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the victims were targeted. As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made, and police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to a suspect.
The museum confirmed in a statement that the shooting occurred outside its premises and that neither staff nor visitors were involved. There is currently no indication that the crime was connected to the museum itself.
Rodriguez and Medina were remembered by friends as devoted to one another and enthusiastic about their future. A friend quoted by People said, “They were young, in love, and just getting started.”
Police are continuing to review surveillance footage and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
