PHILADELPHIA, PA (Headline News USA) (Copyright © 2025) — Police are intensifying efforts to identify a man wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting that unfolded in the schoolyard of James Logan Elementary School in Philadelphia’s Logan neighborhood. The attack claimed the life of an 18-year-old and left a 17-year-old injured.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, when roughly 38 shots were fired near the 1700 block of Lindley Avenue, according to police. The violence erupted in a play area behind the school, not long before dusk.

Responding officers found the 18-year-old victim unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and torso. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive. The second victim, a 17-year-old, was shot in the hand and leg and was listed in serious but stable condition at Einstein Hospital, authorities said (6ABC: source).

Police have since released surveillance images of a suspect believed to be involved. Described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s, he reportedly goes by the name “Feek.” He was last seen fleeing westbound on Lindley Avenue from Broad Street toward Carlisle Street. He was wearing a black hoodie with a gray design on the front and a large medallion necklace. He also has dreadlocks and a beard (NBC Philadelphia: source).

“This was a very, very heinous crime,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “For someone to fire 38 shots on school property during the day, it’s just unimaginable” (6ABC: source).

Authorities emphasized that no students or staff from James Logan Elementary were directly involved in the incident. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were impacted,” the School District of Philadelphia said in a statement (6ABC).

The investigation extended beyond the school grounds, with officers reviewing surveillance video that showed individuals fleeing the scene in multiple directions.

Kevin Lewis, a member of the Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network, was among several community leaders who gathered near the school Thursday night. “We’re going to try to unite the masses, unite the neighbors, speak to them, see if any of them need any trauma counseling or anything like that,” he said (6ABC).

The suspect remains at large, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or through the online tip form at phillypolice.com (FOX29: source).
